Genevieve (Now Solvi)
Genevieve (now Solvi) was one of 3 mamacats with kittens we rescued in June 2013. A woman bought a home in Santa Rosa and the owner left behind 3 pregnant cats, so we stepped in and helped. Here's an update from her adopter: "We adopted a gorgeous grey mama cat who looks like a Norwegian Forest Cat mix from you last June, her name was Genevieve but we changed it to Sølvi, which is Norwegian for Sunny. Just wanted to let you know she is the BEST cat! Sweet and patient and affectionate, she always uses the letterbox, loves toys, and she even will play fetch sometimes! She always wants to cuddle and she comes running whenever she hears our daughter cry, so she can give some love. She is even friendly with strangers, she greets them at the door! "
Congratulations, Toto! (Now Trooper)
Toto (now named Trooper) came to us from a county shelter as a very shy dog, where he was not doing well and was deemed "rescue only".
He's now blossomed in his new home! An update from Trooper's mom, Lisa Frischeisen Higgenbottom, who adopted him from No Boundaries:
"One year ago, Toto, now Trooper, was adopted and he wants to say Thank You to No Boundaries Animal Rescue and their volunteers who gave him a second chance."

Congratulation Allister and Hans!
Allister is a really amazing guy. Friends come over all the time and refuse to believe that he's actually blind after seeing him navigate our house like a pro - well, with minor bumps along the road, of course. The other day, we had a bunch of people over and they were all sitting in a circle in the living room. Alli tired himself out playing with them and passed out right in the middle, snoring and dreaming in the middle of the rug. His favorite game is to go up to the top of that kitty tower we built in the corner and have you throw a furry mouse on the step below him. He'll reach down and attack it, then bring it up to the top. The other favorite is "chase". I slap my thighs quickly to let him know that the game has begun, then I run away and he chases me. Suddenly, I'll switch directions and chase him. Our house is a circle, so he can just do laps until we both get tired.
He and Hans are the best of friends - but Alli is obviously the boss. He won't let Hans on the kitty crow's nest, so we're gonna build and extra stair for Hans. They love to wrestle. Hans is obsessed with those "bird" flying toys. He's torn apart at least a dozen since we got him. Alli loved an orange fur puffball ("ginger toy') to death, as well - it smelled and looked like him by the end.
I'm obviously in love with these cats. If you ever come to Oakland, you're welcome to come and visit them. It still blows my mind to think that we just searched for "blind cat" on craigslist and met the coolest dudes in the world. You guys are amazing for doing what you do, and I'm so thankful for the opportunity to adopt Al and Hans. They really make like so much better.
Thank you for everything, especially trusting us with Al. Come and visit him some time!
Best,
Amelia

Congratulations Rocky! (Now Syang)
It amazes me that Syang was that shy in your home because he is so affectionate with me though I do see a little of that timid side. I adopted him because after house-sitting someone with a kitten I had realized what the house was missing especially after losing one of ours earlier last year. And he has truly brought this house to life. He is probaly one of the sweetest most loving kitties that we've had and also one of the funniest. Between my parents and me we had four other cats. Three of them being males and it's those three boys that have become Syang's best friends (all in a different way). Tony is the oldest, and is a Siamese also, and it's as if Syang realizes this. Because no matter how grumpy Tony gets Syang has an almost hero worship with him. He just wants to be near Tony. Then there is Tux who has been somewhat of a loner since he can get rough or bullying with the other cats. Syang likes that though, he loves rough housing with Tux and chasing him through the house. If Tux gets too rough then Syang just rolls over on his belly and that calms Tux down. Then there is Shadow, my three legged tough boy of a cat, and the one I worried about getting along with Syang the most. I had found Shadow on the street and he came with a lot of trust issues plus there is the fact he now only has three legs. I shouldn't have worried because Syang has tamed the bad boy of the house. Syang has such a sweet personality and he uses that to his advantage, not giving up until he has made a friend. And so Syang and Shadow are the best of friends. Syang is the only one that Shadow will eat with and sleep with. Syang is teaching Shadow to be open and to play. I have a lot of health issues and having Syang has been good because he makes me laugh all the time. He brightens the day up. There is nothing better then when he comes in the morning and snuggles under my chin, smiling at me and giving nose kisses. When he comes in my lap the first thing he does is roll right over and let me scratch his belly. He also needs mom time throughout the day. All of a sudden I will feel these little paws scrambling at my legs wanting to be picked up and snuggled. He has some of the goofiest traits: he loves nothing better then when the dishwasher is being loaded and he can supervise sitting on the door or how he always is looking at the world upside down. He is also our chewer-he has chewed through my charging cord almost. Paper, books, clothes, or anything he can get his jaw around. He either wants to carry it or chew it. He loves carrying his toy mice to bed with him or I find them in my shoes. And like I mentioned this Christmas will go down in infamy. We had just gotten the tree up and the lights hung when we heard this rustling noise. It was Syang up the tree. He got about half way up before jumping out with the lights between his teeth. But that is Syang for you, making those around him smile or laugh from his antics. So thank you guys again for the chance of being able to adopt this amazing kittie. I look forward to many years of happiness to come and keep up all the work you do with rescue. Here is one my favorite pictures of him, though there is so many. And he will have to get used to the camera since I'm an amateur photographer. Who knows you might see his picture up at the fair.

Congratulations Hemingway! (Now Bogie)
"Hemingway" was saved off the cart of a high kill shelter, on the way to be euthanized, because he and his siblings, at just 6 weeks old, hissed. Can you blame the poor babies? What a scary thing! Fortunately, they had some guardian angels looking over them and were saved JUST in time. Literally minutes before they were put to sleep. Within a couple short weeks, these kittens were happily playing, purring and enjoying the good life with their foster mom, getting top notch food and care and forever homes being searched for. Hemingway was adopted and his new Mom writes:
"We recently lost our beloved golden retriever a couple months ago. It has been a very sad time for us and we have felt such a void in our lives not having a pet. Our children are both in college mow, and do not require much of our time, so we really were wanting a new pet. But, we also knew we would be traveling a fair amount and also needed time to mourn our dog. So, when my daughter was home from college, she begged us to get a cat. We were looking on the Internet, and then went into Bennett Valley Pet, where we saw Hemingway, and just thought he was so darling and playful. Since we've brought him home, he has brought us such enjoyment with his little antics and personality. And best of all, he is an absolute love bug. He follows me around like a little puppy dog, and is very loving and attentive. We just love him and appreciate how he has brought joy to our house and helped to fill the hole we had in our hearts. We would like to thank the No Boundaries Animal Rescue for doing such a nice job rescuing and fostering our precious little kitten." -J.C., Sonoma County

Congratulations Bell! (Now Bella!)
Bell was left behind when her owner was evicted. She soon became pregnant and had 5 kittens. The neighbor kid began feeding her and when the kittens were about 3 weeks old, the kids started "playing" with them, carrying them around in a box, taking them into their apartments for long periods of time, etc., resulting in a call to us from a concerned neighbor. We arrived to find only 4 kittens, as protective and frightened Bell had hidden the fifth. We put out a reward and the next day, one of the kids found the missing kitten and Bell and they were reunited at their foster home.
Bell's adopter writes: "I am the lucky owner of the newly adopted Cat named Bell . We changed her name to Bella because we’re Italian. We love Bella and can’t imagine not having her as part of our family. She’s a beautiful cat and she loves hanging out with people. We adore her! Our other cat is jealous, but he's adjusting.
Thank you so much for letting our family adopt Bella. We love her and feel fortunate to have been lucky enough to find her before someone else adopted her. "

Congratulations, Ariel!
Ariel was rescued as a "feral" cat with 6 very young kittens. Not only did she raise all 6, but she graciously took in two orphaned kittens as well. We originally planned to return Ariel to the property she was trapped at but her dedicated foster mom, Barbara worked hard to tame her up and prove to her that humans are good. Ariel turned a corner and started showing us her wonderful personality. Although she waited quite a while, she eventually found an incredible mom!
Ariel's adopter writes: "I've been meaning to write to you and tell you how well things are going and how delightful Ariel is. Besides being stunning and affectionate, she's a very smart cat! She now moves freely throughout the apartment, though she still considers my bedroom - where she was confined when I first brought her here - as her "home base". She and Fog, my older cat, are gradually developing a good relationship and seem to sort of play together on occasion - peeking around corners at each other and playfully chasing - though Fog will occasionally still get a little hissy. Ariel plays a lot on her own too, with ribbons and mouse toys. She loves to sit on my windowsill and look at the squirrels and birds in the trees which are very close by. She still likes to hang out under my bed and nap there, but she comes out readily when I talk to her or often whenever I come into the room if she's not sleeping. At night, she sleeps on my bed and loves to snuggle up. She also frequently sits on the chair next to me when I'm at my computer, which is a lot. She still seems a little anxious about being picked up and held, so I'm working on that gradually. But the couple times I've done it, she has never tried to bite or scratch, just struggled to be put down, which of course I did. She is such a sweet-tempered cat, especially awesome after all she's been through! So, I couldn't be happier with her, and I feel so lucky to have found her and know she'll be my companion for many years to come!"

Congratulations Nick! (Now Sebastian!)
"Nick" was one of our fluffy, feral kittens we rescued along with his two sisters, Tinsel and Gingerbread. They had been trapped by a pest control company and turned into the county animal control. It was just by a fluke that we happened to see these guys in their cage at the shelter. After a couple weeks of getting them healthy and socialized, they were adopted. Although Nick was adopted once before, his then mommy felt he deserved a home with more action and space. Very soon after he was placed up for adoption, we received an application for him and organized a time for his new parents to meet him. It was love at first sight!
Nick's new adopters write:
"Hi there, Just wanted to let you know that things are going great with the little Maine Coon kitten we adopted from you almost 2 weeks ago. He is the perfect fit to our home. He took right to everyone, the Corgis and our older cat. She surprised us by adjusting to him rather quickly as well. By then end of the first week she stopped growling and hissing at him and even now chases him and engages in play. He adores her and follows her everywhere as allowed by her. This little guy is fearless and funny and such a sweet love. He just has added so much love and happiness to our little family. I've included a few pics, he's already bigger this week than last! Thanks again for our little love bug!"

Lily Belle's new adopters write: "Thought you would enjoy this picture of the gruesome twosome..... They are hilarious together and we love them sooooo much! Lilly's now entering a her lanky phase but still a bit of a peanut although she certainly holds her own with Homer and the dogs. I think she pretty much rules the house ;o)"
